If you want to improve eyesight naturally, take a look at these free eye exercises designed to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness, aging vision and astigmatism.

I used eye exercises myself to improve my vision from 20/150 to 20/40 and completely eradicate my astigmatism. After 15 years of deteriorating vision, eye strengthening exercises gave me a natural remedy that really works.

How to Improve Eyesight Naturally

Most people want to try out some free eye exercises online before committing to any kind of vision training. I felt the same way once. You need to know what eye exercises do and how they work before diving in. So, here we go...

Test out the free eye exercise routines below (taken with permission from Rebuild Your Vision, a leading vision training program). When you understand how they reduce eye strain, and improve your flexibility and focus, it's time to begin a daily exercise routine to strengthen your vision for life!

I recommend a 30-day routine supplied by Rebuild Your Vision to improve eyesight naturally. After 30 days I saw a dramatic improvement in my own natural vision, verified by my optometrist and my new, much-reduced glasses prescription!

Free Eye Exercise: Distant Night

This is an easy eye relaxation exercise to do when you feel the effects of near-point stress (which is a major cause of eye strain and myopic deterioration).

Symptoms of near-point stress include tension in your forehead, headaches, dryness of the eyes, blurry vision, tired eyes and eye strain. These are all signs that you need to step away from your computer and give your eyes a break.

How It Works

Distant Night is a simple relaxation exercise which provides temporary relief from staring at the computer screen (or other near-point task). Your eyes can stop straining to focus up-close, relieving them of a constant state of contraction. Instead, you allow the eye muscles to relax by imagining a distant night sky.

Free Eye ExercisesTo perform Distant Night, remove your glasses, take a few deep breaths and rest your elbows either on your knees or on the desk in front of you.

Cup your hands over your eyes so that your fingers are on your forehead and no light can enter your eyes. Make sure you can still blink under your palms without restriction. Allow your neck and shoulders to relax.

Remember, this relaxation and eradication of tension all over the face, head and neck is a great way to improve eyesight naturally.

Now, with your eyes closed, stare into the darkness and visualize a night sky.

Imagine you can see hundreds of tiny stars in the far distance. Apply a little pressure with your palms around the eye socket, where the muscles are tense. Now take some more slow, deep breaths and release all the tension in your forehead and around your eyes. Stay this way for 1-2 minutes.

When you remove your hands, blink a few times then look out the window or into the distance. You can now see more clearly than before. This is just the short term effect of Distant Night - you can imagine how the long term effect can improve eyesight naturally. It's all about relaxation and removing eye strain.

In vision training, Distant Night is used after doing strengthening eye exercises to wind down and give the eyes a break. It's also extremely valuable in day-to-day life when your eyes feel sore and vision is blurry.

Free Eye Exercise: The Three Cups

If you consider the previous eye exercise is like doing stretches to warm-up at the gym, then this next one is like using the weights and treadmills.

The Three Cups is just one component of a daily vision training routine. You may benefit from doing this free eye exercise alone - but for dramatic eyesight improvement, a full workout is recommended. This is just to give you a head-start.

How It Works

The Three Cups has many levels, starting out fairly easy and then becoming increasingly hard. The idea is to test your range of accommodation (focusing) skills, both as close-up and long distance range. I find this to be a very effective eye strengthening exercise, through which you can improve eyesight naturally on a daily basis, measuring your improvement against the levels you achieve.

Today I'm going to share with you Level One. This free eye exercise was also taken with permission from the Rebuild Your Vision program.

First, remove your glasses or contact lenses and adjust your chair so that you are 12 to 24 inches from the computer monitor at eye level. If the image below is not perfectly clear to you that's all right, as long as you can roughly make it out.

Hold a pen vertically between the two circles about 1 inch from the screen. The top of the pen should be at the same level as the image.

Now, focus on the top of the pen as you slowly bring it toward your face. You will notice the two circles appear to become three circles. When it appears that the three circles are all the same shape and proportion, stop moving the pen.

Now try to shift your focus from the pen to the center circle. This may be difficult and could take a few days to master. Or you might get it straight away.

Once you can focus on the center circle, lose the pen while maintaining your focus. Try to see the center circle as clearly as possible. As you increase your focus you will notice that the center circle becomes three-dimensional. It will look as if you were peering down into a Styrofoam cup.

Improve Your Vision

Your final goal for Level One is to look at the two circles and create the three circles, the center one appearing three-dimensional, without using your pen at all. Once you can easily achieve this, proceed to Level Two described in the Rebuild Your Vision training routine.

This routine gets increasingly tricky, involving the creation of up-turned cups (focus out), down-turned cups (focus in), creating the third cup at increasing distances, and flipping between focus-in and focus-out cup positions. If that sounds complicated don't worry, because it's all explained clearly in the program. It will really push your accommodation skills to new heights, which is a powerful way to improve eyesight naturally on all levels.
